The Opportunity
Join us on Weka Farm as a Stock Manager, you will work closely with a supportive farm manager in planning and executing farming operations and pasture management to optimise and improve operational processes and animal performance.
 
You will be working closely within a high performing team of three, who value communication and collaboration.
 
You will enjoy some variety in your work, as your days could include anything from; stock shifts, break fencing, measuring pasture, feeding calves or any other farm tasks, along with the responsibility for ensuring accurate and timely stock data records and reporting, and managing farm data records in Farm IQ.  Your knowledge in growing young stock, best practice animal health standards and feed budgeting will be highly valued.
 
Weka Farm work a 5/2 roster and 1 in every 3 weekends.
 
The Farm
Weka is a 1,484 effective hectare property which has approximately 12,000 su in total, beef breeding and finishing, dairy beef and dairy heifer grazing.
 
The farm is located a short 10-minute drive from Lake Brunner and 30 minutes from Greymouth.
 
Weka Farm features diverse land classes, with a significant portion of the farm dedicated to finishing country. In addition to running trade cattle and dairy heifer grazing,
 
Weka Farm boasts a substantial calf-rearing facility, raising 1,400 calves annually. Summer trade options are seasonally dependent.
 
About You
You are a passionate and experienced Stock Manager with a can-do attitude and strong work ethic.
 
You will bring your genuine enthusiasm along with proven skills and experience in pasture and stock management, and you will also have:
 
·         Excellent attention to detail for maintaining records
·         Commitment to high standards of quality and safety
·         1-2 working dogs
·         Experience in people management skills
·         Have a current New Zealand full driver’s licence
·         Proven ability to plan and prioritise
